Help us to help you – Message from Dr Karen Nevin (Senior Partner)

Firstly, we want to reassure you that the practice is open and available to support our patients and has been throughout the coronavirus outbreak.

During August, which is often a quieter month where GPs and practice staff go on annual leave to take advantage of the school holidays, we have still provided well over 3,000 appointments in the practice.

In line with NHS guidance to help stop the transmission of coronavirus, we have changed the way we are asking you to contact us and therefore limiting face-to-face contact whenever possible.

To help us with this, we are asking patients who have access to the internet and are comfortable using it, to make their request through our website. So please do this if you can. It helps keep our phone lines available for patients who are not able to access the internet, many of whom are amongst our more vulnerable patients.

Appointments are being provided face-to-face, online and over the telephone. Please do not come to the surgery if you, or any member of your household have any of the coronavirus symptoms: high temperature, new continuous cough, or loss or change in your taste and smell, or if you have been contacted by Test and Trace. Please telephone us first.

Please do not try to enter the surgery unless you already have a pre-booked appointment. If you are asked to come into the surgery for a face-to-face appointment, please remember:

  • Wear a face covering
  • Sanitise your hands on entering the practice
  • Please don’t arrive early for your appointment
  • Please come unaccompanied (unless for a child’s appointment or if you need assistance)
  • Please only bring essential items with you
  • Follow strict social distancing rules

Be aware that measures are in place to keep you safe from infection during your visit to the surgery, including a one way system. Please be patient as appointments are taking much longer than usual due to clinicians changing PPE and cleaning the consultation room between every patient.

Please also be aware that GP Practices are not able to provide or help patients with COVID-19 swab testing. If you or a family member have any of the Covid symptoms listed above, please contact the NHS COVID-19 testing website and self-isolate until your result comes back. Thank you for your patience, understanding and support for the changes we’ve put in place to mitigate the risks as far as possible to help keep our patients and staff safe during the pandemic.

Kind regards
Dr Karen Nevin
